NOP New Ordinary People
Menu

NOP is a way of thinking.

We are against exploitation, poverty, unequal workspaces, global warming, biodiversity loss, consumerism and bad production habits.
There are almost no cotton farms left in Europe. And even though it's more carbon-intensive, we prefer contributing to global social equality by sourcing from fair wear factories in Bangladesh.
1.

People come first.

fair wear

The textile industry is known to have little regard for the working conditions of its employees. We go in the oposite direction.

Our suppliers value transparency and are Fair Wear Foundation members because we are strongly against every form of exploitation, violence or harassment. FWF has 8 standards that make them awesome:

  • The employment is freely chosen.
  • No exploitation of child labour.
  • No discrimination.
  • The employment relationship is legally binding.
  • Payment of a living wage.
  • Reasonable hours of work.
  • Safe and healthy working conditions.
  • Freedom of association for whatever one believes.

There’s also childcare on-site and most facilities offer a scholarship for workers’ children.

This might sound normal, but unfortunately, in the "fashion industry production countries" it isn't. Infact our production factories are controlled on-site every day by more than 20 quality, sustainability, social & safety controllers.

2.

Made with100% sustainable materials.

Organic Cotton

Organic cotton avoids chemical insecticides, fertilisers and pesticides. It’s grown using natural farming methods and is more respectful of water and local biodiversity, allowing farmers to grow cotton crops alongside other food crops. This means that it doesn’t pollute the soil, rivers, lakes and seas and the water used is not wastewater. The crop rotation, green manure, composting, reduced tillage, and the recycling of crop residue protect the soil from desertification. Furthermore, plantations where organic cotton is grown avoid the use of genetically modified seeds, thus they help to preserve seed biodiversity.

Recycled Polyester

Some of the products had up to 20% recycled polyester (from PET plastic bottles), now we've removed them from our catalog in order to go 100% biodegradable. We'll get the loved products back as soon as we find a 100% biodegradable and sustainable manufacturing chain for them

Environmentally friendly inks

100% eco-certified by the OEKO-TEX® ECO PASSPORT and by the very serious GOTS label. Our clothes are dyed without using any toxic substances and printed with ecological inks.

We don't use any animal-based materials and we do not tolerate animal testing.

3.

Responsible & consumer friendly

Made on demand

We finish the product only once you order it.

We don't overproduce, which means we don't have unsold goods and there is no need for us to do any seasonal sales and bombing you with stuff you don't need. The first step to promoting a more rational and eco-responsible consumption is to respect the consumers' psychological well-being.

The water usage

Water is more precious than gold. The organic cotton used is grown with a minimal amount of water and isn't polluted with chemicals or contaminated in any other way.

All our supplier's factories (talking about the fabric treatments and dyeing) have ETP's (Effluent Treatment Plants) to treat all the water used by removing all the toxic elements from the water before releasing it back to nature. The factories use it also for gardening 👍

The in-house specialists in the factories and the testing facilities ensure the safety of the treated water. It's tested for PH, Dissolved Oxygen, Biochimical Oxygen Demand, Chemical Oxygen Demand and Total Dissolved Solids.

We plant trees.

NOP collaborates with “Tree Nation” organization in order to give a hand with reforestation. Tree Nation plants trees around the world where the planet needs them the most. No fruit trees or strange stuff: real forests for animals and biodiversity in general.

We decided to plant a tree with each product you buy.

One Tree Planted

Before Tree Nation, we collaborated with One Tree Planted by planting 104 trees in total.
