NOP Product care

It is difficult to find the perfect fibre because even among all sustainable materials there are differences in terms of environmental advantages and disadvantages.
Bamboo, for example, has advantages during cultivation (e.g. low water consumption, high productivity), but it is an artificial fibre and has to be processed accordingly. Cotton, on the other hand, already contains a natural fibre, which therefore does not have to be extracted.

Make your clothes last longer!

Organic cotton doesn’t ask for more care than normal. But to make your favourites last longer, here are some useful tips on taking care of your precious clothes:

Read Fabric Care Labels
The majority of our products prefer cold machine wash (30°C)
Be careful
Sort your laundry, wash the clothes with similar colours. Don’t iron on the design. Wash and iron always on the wrong side. Some items labelled hand-wash can be placed in the washer on a gentle cycle.
Use less detergent
Are you too guilty of using too much laundry detergent or fabric softener? The extra detergent settles back on the clothing and leaves the finish dull and stiff. Begin by using half of the usual amount of detergent and 1/2 cup baking soda as a detergent booster.
Which detergent?
When you buy organic cotton clothes and wash them in regular detergent these can be full of harsh chemicals and toxins. It’s a good best practice to use environmentally friendly laundry detergents.
Button & zip up
Turn clothing inside out and close the buttons, zips and garments, they’ll be less likely to snag another fabric or even snap themselves. You don’t want to find clothes hooked to each other.
Careful with the heat
Heat-drying is really hard on clothes, whenever you can prefer hanging your clothes. Make sure you know the proper setting to use on your iron for various materials. Most of our products require low-heat ironing.
Careful with the bleach
Do not use chlorine bleach on the natural colour cotton products. This bleach will fade the cotton from its natural colour and weaken the garment’s fibre strength.
Learn to do some of your own repairs
Mending clothes is almost a lost art. However, it is an important skill that allows you to get more mileage out of your clothing. Don’t worry, you don’t need amazing sewing skills to mend holes or replace buttons.
